Practice exams - will help first-time test takers.
All the certifications in GILD could only be re-taken after a minimum of 30 days. This restricts a user to not take up a certification exam immediately since he'd not have a clue of what to expect. Although this introduces an uncertainty, it'd be helpful for the first-time exam takers to have a "Practice Exam" option for various tests with questions SIMILAR to those asked in certification exams, but not the same ones, which would also not be bound by the time-constraint of minimum of 30 days to re-take the test.

Yes it would surely help if you showed just a few example questions before the certification.But it would be best in case that you don't check the ability to handle new problems. -

Thank you friends, for valuing this idea as useful and thanks to Gild for considering to implement it.
For a regular user of Gild, it might not sound that relevant or necessary. But the first time I had to take up a certification, I was clueless on how the test will be - The question type, the answering method, the interface, whether or not I could take a few seconds break in-between the sections etc. The fact that if you mess up once, you could take up the exam only after one month, only adds up to a newbie's stress.
So I felt that letting someone have a taste of what to experience in the test will make him/her relatively more comfortable, and possibly bring out the best in him/her. -

I'm just caught up in the same situation!
I was thinking maybe I could take the exam once and have an idea about the questions and then retake it! I hope and pray that they implement such a feature. -

1I'd vote against this idea. I think were looking at this as an ordinary exam that we wrote in school.
I believe you need to be good at code so that you can take up anything that comes your way. thats what this site is about, not be able to reproduce based on what you think the exam should be. thats the point of knowing your subject.
At work, you seldom know what problems occur, so that should be reflective here -

the practise exam should demostrate 2 things one is that what format the exam is in. Also how the questions are structured. it does not have to change it can have 10 question from different levels for each topic so that you can get feel on how each level will be

A practice exam only takes away from the integrity of the test and the certification. The way I look at it you know your stuff or don’t know your stuff. I can look at the people who got certifications and know it’s a direct testament to the person’s actual skill, and wouldn’t mind working with the person.
